Fruits for Schools
The Bundesrat ha
s decided to accept the EU decision to offer fruits and vegetables at schools for free. The EU will help with 20 million Euro. At first the federal states did not want to pay the rest of it (about 18 million Euro).
However, they now have agreed on paying the rest and stop the fight. The reason for this decision was that the current term has already startet and of course it is for the sake of the students. The European Union hopes to be able to fight the overweight of students with fruits and vegetables.
It is also expected that the Member States provide information lessons about healthy food.
