Nothing new in Good Old Germany? / Students' protests
Sorry for not posting anything the past week, however I had a lot of work to do and I did not gather much interesting information. This one might be interesting for you.
Students' protests in Germany
German students have learned a lesson from their Austrian colleagues and started conquering some lecture halls too. However, in Tübingen the hall was cleared by the police. I think the first cities to follow Austria were Münster and another town which I do not remember anymore. Other universities followed later, e.g. Stuttgart started today (or yesterday).
I have been in Stuttgart today, because we had studies-information-day (bad translation, I know), however I unfortunately could not meet the protesters, because I was in another part of town. You have to know that the university in Stuttgart is split in two regions.
News papers write that there were normal presentations planned in the conquered lecture hall, but the university students instead used it for their own information about university. They probably told the school students something about tuition fees etc.
Let's hope that this will help something, because most people agree that something is going wrong. Media reports that Germany is paying much less for education that other countries and one of the professors I heard today said that bologna-process put a spoke in their wheel (while they were working on improving diploma).
