Stuttgart at the Bottom of German Soccer League
The VfB Stuttgart is currently at the bottom of the German soccer league - not on rank 18, but on rank 15. Last week they were still on rank 16 (which is relegation zone), able to get up due to a draw against Mainz today. This, however, is not a really good result in my opinion, because Mainz was in the second league last year, when Stuttgart was playing much better.
Wondering how this will go on and how the team of Stuttgart can deal with their bad results. At least, they won in the Champions League.

German National Goal Keeper Dead
The German national goal keeper Enke has commited suicide, yesterday. Today his wife taught the publicity that he had suffered from depressions a lot, was afraid of failure. He was afraid to lose his job and his adopted daughter if this would have been known by other people; therefore he did not tell anything and tried to act normal. Enke also suffered from a lot of physical injuries which made it impossible to play in a lot of important matches.
Nobody - not even his psychologist - has recognized that he wanted to kill himself, they say he was able to hide it from them. A sports reporter of the TV described him as a very intelligent person, yesterday, who also cared about theatre, books and thought a lot about different subjects.
Some weeks ago another professional soccer player, Sebastian Deisler, has published a book about his past. He talked about it on TV and also mentioned a lot of psychological pressure and mental problems. If I remember it right, Deisler also had a lot of physical problems, so this seems to belong to each other. Moreover, it has to be very stressful to be a professional soccer player.

German Soccer Team qualified for World Cup 2010
I have totally forgotten to inform you about one information some days ago: The German male team has qualified for the Soccer World Cup in Africa in 2010. Germany has won against Russia with 1:0 after a goal of Miroslav Klose. However, one player of the German team had to leave the field after receiving the red card due to unfair methods.
German news papers seem to be reporting very euphoric about this win, even though I heard that the match was not that good for Germany. I even have in mind that Russia should have received a penalty kick, but I cannot verify this information since I just heard it randomly and did not see the match.
Yet, it is an interesting detail to see a news paper reporting in four paragraphs how good the German team was and then only mentioning many chances of the Russian team in the second half in one short paragraph.

Germany wins European Championship in Table Tennis
Germany's male table tennis team has won the European Championship. They were able to achieve a 3:2 result against Denmark and have now received the cup three times in series.
The most famous player of Germany is Timo Boll, but the trainer said that their team did "not only consist of boll". It was a very interesting match, because at first Denmark was leading, then Germany won two times followed by one win for Denmark. Finally, Germany was able to win the firth match.
Personal comment
I have been playing table tennis in the past two, but we were never that good. Our team mostly lost, we only achieved a win one time. In the end there were not even enough players anymore to participate in the league.

Some people say that the advantage of women's soccer is that it is not as commercial as the male sports. That's of course, because it is not as popular as the male sports. Therefore, male sports is also more often broadcasted on TV.
